In the Netherlands, 176,000 animals died in barn fires in 2019. This is a harsh reality that is still affecting too many farmers. In addition to the necessary preventative measures, this concept aims to contribute to a solution for this persistent issue.

 

I have employed my personal fascination for the collective behaviour of animals, and swarming in particular, to design a lighting concept and evacuation protocol to aid poultry farmers in the event of a fire.
